About COCA
CABS knows that quality care is best done through collaborations and partnerships.
The CABS Circle of Care Awards (COCA) was created in 2019 to acknowledge the fervent contributions of its employees home care workers, administrative staff, and community and strategic partners.
The COCA History
On October 1, 2020, CABS celebrated its 41st year in the healthcare industry and the International Day of Older Persons with a fully online experience known as the Circle of Care Awards. Each year, the United Nations assigns a theme to the International Day of Older Persons, and in 2020, it focused on "Pandemics: Do They Change How We Address Age and Ageing?" This theme highlighted the crucial role played by nurses and women in supporting the elderly during the global COVID-19 pandemic.
In alignment with the UN's theme, CABS' 2020 Circle of Care Awards adopted the theme "Celebrating a Decade of Healthy Ageing" to commemorate its 41st anniversary. This event marked the second annual Circle of Care Awards, recognizing individuals and organizations that have provided outstanding services to the community.
During this event, awards were presented to notable recipients, including NYCHA, PPEforNYC, CABS' aides turned clients, eldest aides, the organization's first posthumous award for the Director of Patient Services, CABS' Nursing Department, and a dedicated case coordinator with more than two decades of service.
The occasion also featured valuable community resources, including the Alzheimer's Foundation, Healthfirst, and God's Love We Deliver. Local politicians such as Senator Roxanne Persaud, Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, Assemblywoman Latrice Walker, and the Former Brooklyn Borough President, now Mayor, Eric Adams, shared words of empowerment and wisdom. Together, these honorees play a crucial role in fulfilling CABS' mission of providing essential care services to those in need.
The Circle of Care embodies the idea of interdependence between people and resources, with the client at the center, and CABS' healthcare workers are there to support them. This event celebrated their resilience and unwavering commitment to providing care.
CABS' commitment to the Circle of Care extends throughout the year, and you can follow their journey on social media at @cabshomecare
